What’s goin’ on
The first quarter of 2011 is packed with great events and festivals to get you grooving, thinking or singing.
Here’s Colourworks’ pick of the litter:
Old Mutual Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts
A Cape Town classic. If you haven’t been before, enlist some friends, pack a picnic (we recommend taking a chilled bottle of Haute Cabriere Pinot Noir along for the ride) and stake out your spot on the lawns. Great views and the best in local music make for a fine evening out.
All concerts start at 17h30.
Some highlights include:
20 Feb – Jesse Clegg
6 March – Goldfish
27 March – Cape Philharmonic Orchestra
3 April – aKing
Africa’s foremost platform for all things design related, the pioneering minds at Design Indaba take the view that creativity can spark revolutions and generate change in people’s lives.
Catch the Design Indaba Conference & Simulcast from 23 – 25 February, and the renowned Design Indaba Expo from 25 – 27 February.
Catch some of the world’s best-loved jazz and jazz fusion artists performing under the night sky on 25 and 26 March. Previous highlights include Mos Def, 340ml, Erykah Badu, Herbie Hancock, Hugh Masekela and Youssou N’dour.
Keep an eye on their website for program updates!
A personal favourite of ours. We’ve had the privilege of being Two Oceans’ marketing agency for three years now – check out some of the great work we’ve done for them here (website link). This year we even have FIVE staff members running the race – some with enthusiasm, and others, under duress!
Join in on the magic that is the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon on the 22nd and 23rd of April. Participate in a Fun Run, do the Half, support your friends or drink a pint at Forries in celebration!
And last but not least, the big one:
13 February – Soccer City, Johannesburg
18 February – Cape Town Stadium
See you there!
